Remember I said gunning for that high GPA? I’m going to need a lot of ammo and armpower because this gun packs a whopper! My classes aren’t that easier anymore. Well, it is and isn’t. Math is kicking my butt but when I think about it, it’s really only because I haven’t really sitten down and tried to learn how to do to the problems on my own. All I’ve done is copy down examples and call it a day.

This semester is even more hectic! I’m still in all the orgs that I was in last semster.. plus some.

I’ll try to keep my school life more updated. I may fail, but I’ll just say that I will try.

First semester of college is OVER.

Orgo: B+ (I got 205/240 on my Orgo Final!!!)
Orgo Lab: A-
German 101: A-
CompLit (Writing): B

GPA: 3.361

I have research but grade doesn’t come til end of school year. If I get an A, my GPA would go up to probably 3.4.
And then UC 104 is cred/nocred so that doesn’t affect my GPA.

I am gunning for perhaps a 3.7-4.0 for next semester.

So our Football season sucked ass, right?
Well there’s always sugar next to the salt on my kitchen counter back at home.

WE ROCK IN BASKETBALL.

We beat UCLA, number 4 in the nation.
We beat Duke [granted we lost the first time around] who are also in the top ten.

We are going STRONG.
And.. I keep forgetting to buy Basketball tickets!
Soon it’ll be too late to buy UM vs. MSU basketball tickets. Oh dear.

I had a chance to go to the UM vs. Norfolk State bball game for free! I got a free tshirt and everything. It was awesome, we DESTROYED their team. I also kind of lost my voice a little bit afterwards, haha.

TWO days left of classes!!!!!!!
Finals on Friday and one next Monday.
I still have to revise that stupid essay for CompLit. ):
It’s soo hard, but I am dedicating all of this Sunday to it. Wish I didn’t have to.
I really really really need to study for my Orgo Finals.. I’m not doing well in that class at all.

It is the last day before Thanksgiving Break. It officially starts at 5pm tonight! Of course, I work until 5pm so I really do have to wait until then.

After break, there are only 7 days worth of classes left before the semester is over. After that, it’s a week and a half of finals. My last day of finals is Monday, December 15. I am very luck because some people can’t leave until the 20th! It’s so close yet so far away.

I get to register my second semester classes December 4th at noon. I’m slightly impatient because it’s after break and I don’t want break to end so soon since it is only four days long.

This is my update. I’m doing better in CompLit. I wrote my last roughdraft for the class and I just need to revise it and finish up a group project and I’m DONE with that class.

I had a little stress meltdown Tuesday night. I had a CompLit rough draft due in the morning and I had only 1.5/5 pages done. Luckily my friend James was there to help me out. I just can’t think anymore when it comes to Literature. I think it’s just me losing hope in being a decent English person. I mean, I got a really really low grade on my first essay in which I thought I did at least decent.

I have my third German test today at 1. I won’t do so hot on this one as the first two but I won’t bomb it. At least I shouldn’t bomb it, haha.

I just can’t wait to get rid of my First Year Writing Requirement. That’s just not what I do. I am definitely more of a math and science kind of person. I believe I’m more math-oriented.

I am taking three scholastic tests for a Test Validity Study over the course of the Wednesdays in October. So I just took the first one last night. I miss calculating and evaluating math problems!
Why am I doing this? Simply put, I get $150 gift certificate for Amazon.com.
As a college student, I want to get a chance to splurge recklessly at least once!

Fall Break is coming up this weekend. We have no classes Monday and Tuesday. Most people are going home but I am going to stay on campus. I am going to utilize this to get ahead on my work so I don’t fall behind.

Okay, enough update.

Extra-Curricular Activities

I just came back from my Alternative Weekend Participant Kick-Off. It was kind of like an introduction for being a part of AW and getting to know everyone (kind of) before the program starts. There are seven sites to where we volunteer almost once a month for a weekend. I am volunteering for Habitat for Humanity: Jackson.

Our first weekend is next week! Luckily, they are very nice and said it’s okay that I can’t go. You see, I am going home. I already bought my Chiodos concert that I am going to with a friend whose birthday is that weekend. I am going in a way for her birthday. Also, my sister, brother, and my dog moved back to Michigan from Las Vegas last weekend after two years and I really want to come back and see them even if I’m going to go home the weekend after anyways for Fall Break, lol.

Relay for Life is starting too! I got into the Finance Committee and our first big R4L meeting is next Sunday at 1. This also means that I need to come back to Ann Arbor rather early and can’t stay home as long as possible. Thank goodness Fall Break is coming up or else my parents will be sad that I couldn’t be at home the whole weekend!

Yup, going home two weekends in a row.

Almost forgot, I also joined the DVN which is a Vietnamese cultural show hosted by the Vietnamese Student Associations. I’m not part of VSA yet but I’m going to the Pho Night they are hosting tonight and I guess I’ll pay the membership fee to be apart of them. I am part of the Hip-Hop dance section! Believe me, I don’t think I can dance at all.

It sounds like I’m really piling things up, but I’m not – I promise! These are the only three things I’ll do (and possibly Neurokids coughcough). I won’t join anything else and I think I won’t even do March of Dimes simply because that’s more time commitments that I most likely won’t have. I mean I already have time conflicts for AW!

I just hope I can handle this along with homework, studying, papers, and research!!!

R E A L I T Y

I have to go to work in ten minutes so this will be a quickie. [ew, not like that]

I turned in my Research Contract and have officially started my research project. My project on WWII so far is prett awesome in terms of learning. There is not a definitive time that I have to do things. The main thing is that I need to pack in six hours of research per week. However, if I end up busy one week, I can make up hours another week.

What am I doing? I am reading published and unpublished works and memoirs from unremembered names during WWII in the Pacific. In a way, I am reading unknown work for my Research Advisor so he can spend his time reading on the technical aspects of WWII in very thick and very numerous volumes made by countries involved.

Of course, I am not simply reading. I have to dictate the meaning and note of what I have read onto paper so that I can transfer the thoughts and ideas to my advisor. What’s the use of just reading and not sending it along? I’d be a bad research assistant, for sure.

Oh, I’m rambling on and time is running low.

I took my first Organic Chemistry Exam last night. I don’t know how to feel about it. I think it was easier than the course pack problems but then, of course, I always feel nonchalant about the exams I take. I could’ve done horribly and just thought what I’ve always done wrong was easy. That doesn’t necessarily mean I did well at all!

Also, I don’t even get my paper until Tuesday because my lab is on Tuesday. I am one of the last people to get their papers back. I think the people who have labs tomorrow are very lucky [kinda since it's still a lab].

Oh well, we get the statistics for the test tonight and I guess I can just see how well the class did on average.

By-the-by, I did much worse on my German Test today then I did on the first one for sure. For one, I put thought into Chapter Two half-heartedly and didn’t memorize all the verbs and German words. I’m going to put some more effort next round.
